The summer holidays can be long and appear never ending without plenty of ideas and activities to keep the children entertained. We recently took up the challenge set by the 99p stores to have a #my99psummer and see how much fun we could have with items from the 99p store.
Our first challenge arrived today when we saw the wind blowing well this morning. Taking our kite, we set off for the local park to see how well we would get on.
Making it was really easy, despite only having one reel of string and handle when the packet stated there should have been two included. We didn’t let this put us off, and improvised by using the middle pole as the anchor for the string.
It really was windy at the park, and I was worried that the kite would be too flimsy for the strength of the gusts we were experiencing.
After some adjusting by Daddy, and watching by 6yo to make sure she knew how to hold the kite to get it off the ground, we spent a fun half an hour getting out of breath.
The poor kite spent most of the time on the ground, or twirling around in circles, but we did get a few good goes with it in the air. We decided after many times untangling the string, that it was becoming centre top heavy due to the string being anchored from the centre rather than having two either side of the middle.
We had some laughs, it only cost us 99p and we all got fresh air and exercise. Can’t really grumble can we. Catch up with what we did with the other items we purchased later in the holidays.
