The weather was really grotty yesterday afternoon, so instead of resorting to screen time, 6yo and myself got out the Lego box and started to make some models. She really loves Lego Friends, as it’s for girls don’t you know! In the past few months she has surprised me by taking the time and the concentration by building some of the smaller models herself.
Yesterday I got one out of the box that she hadn’t built yet, so we started on the Heartlake Flying club. She had already had a quick go at beginning the plane so we continued on with it.
I think I had just as much fun building the Lego as she did. It’s great for her concentration, and learning to get over frustrations of not being able to get the piece to stay where she wants it to.
I suggested we build the kids up and start to create a village with the sets we have so this is on our plan for the weekend. We have the plane, a treehouse, car, kitchen set and figures so it’ll give us a good start.
I’m linking this post to this weeks Summer Play Linky which I’m hosting this week.
