Autumn 2016 will be our third Autumn as dog owners. We’ve been out walking in snow, rain, wind and everything else you can imagine since we brought Lola home all that time ago. Lola doesn’t worry what the weather is like, she still wants and needs her walks. Staying warm on Autumn dog walks can be hit and miss with the British weather, so we have learnt to be prepared before we go out.
Hubby tends to do most of the dog walks in the mornings, and it depends on whose working for the second walk of the day. I am getting a lot of use out of my walking jacket that I reviewed on the blog a while ago, and Hubby has just been sent a new jacket to keep him warm as well.
The Expedition Tech Jacket from Scruffs has been impressive on first glance. Hubby isn’t one for wearing a hood when out and about and would almost prefer to get wet I think, however hopefully having a coat with a hood may change his mind. He’s worse than a teenager!
There are so many pockets hidden within this jacket, even one that houses a torch. This is a great idea when out on dog walks as through the Autumn evening, the daylight does disappear too quickly, and there are plenty of time when walks have to happen after working all day. The other pockets are perfect for being able to put keys, poop bags and more when out and about. Having so many pockets saves everything getting tangled together.
The jacket is waterproof, breathable and lined with Thinsulate, I don’t think Hubby has any excuse now not to walk Lola in any weather! From Hubby’s perspective, the coat is a good fit and he is comfortable wearing it which is great.
I definitely feel the cold more than Hubby does, and if I was the one walking the dog more frequently through the Autumn, I would be needing gloves, hat, scarf and lots of layers as well.
Disclosure – we received the jacket free of charge but all opinions are our own
