Have you every had an IFFITS meal? If it’s in the cupboard then we’re eating it for dinner?
There are tins and jars and packets in my cupboard that have been there for a little while and I have no idea what to do with them. I had brought some beef out of the freezer the other day and decided to put it in the slow cooker as I was going to be out for most of the afternoon. But what was I going to cook it with?
Having a quick hunt through the cupboard and fridge, I found some mushrooms, tomato puree and realised there were plenty of tins of soup.
After browning the beef off in my frying pan, I added everything to the slow cooker. It didn’t look very appetising at this point, and I was hoping it was going to turn out OK.
After leaving it on low for five hours, it looked a lot nicer, and I was planning on serving with potato wedges and vegetables.
It just goes to show you can make a meal from random ingredients you may have in your cupboard. The perfect low cost meal when inspiration is lacking.
This has inspired me to use my slow cooker a lot more over the next few months as the weather turns colder.
