Wow, where has the last year gone? Around this time last year, I had been blogging a couple of months, and was joining in with twitter parties such as Playfest that used to run a couple of times a week. I still don’t really remember how it happened, but there was an email in my inbox one day inviting me to take part in a group that focused on play. It sounded interested so I joined in and blogging took a twist and a turn for me in the next few months.
My eyes were opened to so many different aspects that blogging could bring. I learnt so much in the next three months about stats, reviewing, how to vlog, what makes a good and bad review, what the support of other bloggers really means.
Through all of this, a year later, I have stayed connected with some wonderful people. I know bloggers connect because we all have something in common, but I’ve laughed with these ladies, ranted with them. We’ve helped each other out with technical problems, we’ve nearly all gone self hosted with the support of each other, or by asking partners how to solve tricky little problems.
There isn’t anything that is too much trouble for these ladies, and it doesn’t matter what time of day or night it is, there’s always one of us around to help or be there for a chat to another.
BritMums came and went this year and it wasn’t an opportunity for many of us to attend. The majority of us only starting our blogs at the end of last year or the beginning of this year. The day of BritMums this year, it was vowed we would all try to be there next year and we could all meet up if we hadn’t already managed to do so by then.
The blogging world moves quickly, and it wasn’t long before almost half the ladies had met one or a few of the others. I was starting to think I would be the one who wouldn’t get to meet any of them in person.
Then all of a sudden a meet up was suggested before Christmas. As we are all scattered across the UK, literally from Scotland to Devon, somewhere in the middle was arranged. The date was set, and here we are! This is happening THIS WEEKEND! Trains have been booked, car shares have been arranged and the whole event has been generously sponsored by a variety of companies.
There are a few ladies who cannot be there this weekend, and it’s a shame that there will be missing pieces to the puzzle, but they’ll be there in spirit if not in person, and I’m sure we’ll all somehow say Hi to each other at the same time during the weekend.
So ladies and gentleman reading this post, I’ll apologise in advance for the tweeting, instagramming, blogging, and any other social media that may happen.. A LOT … over the next few days and into next week, but I am more than a little excited to meet some wonderful ladies.
I feel like there should be some music to end this post with, as this is just the prequel of what is to come. Stay tuned for episode one of “The Blogger’s Night In”
