Disneyworld, Disneyland? What’s the difference? The difference is around 2,200 miles, four parks at Disneyworld to two at Disneyland to name a couple of differences.
Disneyland was opened in 1955 by Walt Disney himself, almost twenty years before the first park at Disneyworld opened. Disneyland opened with just one park, Disneyland Park with the other park California Adventure opening in 2001.
The Independent Guide to Disneyland 2016 is broken down into twenty sections ranging from covering the parks in detail, where to stay, how to get there, maps of the parks and plenty of other useful and important information you may need to help get the most out of your trip to Disneyland.
I have approached this review slightly differently from when I was talking about the Independent Guide to Disneyworld as we have already visited, and then when talking about the Independent Guide to Universal Orlando as we are hoping to visit in the future. We have no fixed plans to visit Disneyland in California, but I have found that by reading the Independent Guide to Disneyland 2016 I have gained a lot of knowledge about where is all began for the Disney family, and reading about the parks is feeding my love of Disney in general.
There are similar rides at Disneyland that feature in Disneyworld but there are also rides and attractions at Disneyland that aren’t at Disneyworld and that is a great selling point for anyone who has only ever visited one of the two in America.
For example Disneyland is home to Cars Land which features attractions and rides from the Cars movies 1 and 2. The closest you get to seeing Cars at Disneyworld is on show at the Art of Animation resort.
As Disneyland is smaller in size to Disneyworld you will be able to see more of the parks in a shorter space of time. The Independent Guide to Disneyland helps you plan your trip to get the most out of when to go and where to visit first etc.
Despite being on a smaller plot size, there still appears to be plenty of future additions to the park which the guide book talks you through. The difference at Disneyland is that there isn’t any additional land around the parks, so the additions have to be done slightly differently than perhaps Disneyworld do them. 2016 sees the start of a Star Wars land area which will be built on the ranch area that Big Thunder Mountain Railroad sits now. The opening time for Star Wars land is projected to be around 2020.
There will be a new Frozen themed musical that will open in 2016 which will replace the Aladdin show among other changes and improvements.
From reading the Independent Guide to Disneyland and the other guide books in the series, I have learned that a guide book isn’t a book that you would perhaps buy when you are going to visit an area, it’s also a great resource of information for learning about a particular place. Videos and internet searches are great when trying to learn new things about places, but I have learnt so much about Disneyland that Youtube and Google haven’t been able to teach me because I didn’t know the right questions to ask. This is where a guidebook comes into its own.
