When 6yo started school, I remember being so organised and buying pre named labels to sew into her clothes. I felt so proud of myself that I had hand sewn every single label into everything, and I was safe that even when she lost items of her uniform, it would be returned to me as it was named.
The following year when she grew out of everything and needed new, I wasn’t so organised and I remember writing in the labels with a permanent marker the night before school started!
I didn’t like iron in labels as in the past I have found they come out too quickly, so I was very excited to try Snappy Tags, a product or concept I have never heard of before.
So what do Snappy Tags do?
A snappy tag attaches a personalised name disc to your clothes by “snapping” a “tag” onto the label of the clothes.
Anything that saves me time is a winner for me, so I was eager to get 6yo’s school clothes labelled. It’s recommended not to label underwear, but shirts, skirts, and cardigans here I come.
In the set you get the applicator which looks a little like a singular hole punch to me, yet without any spring motion. You open and close from the far end. There are strips of snappy backs, and then little plastic discs personalised with names on.
I found the instructions clear to follow, and realised it was easy to attach a name tag to a label quite quickly.
First things first, get the label of the garment you wish to tag, and then feed the strip of back tags through the applicator as shown in the instructions. They sit quite easily in their place and don’t move about.
The name disc goes into the other side of the applicator name side down. This clicks in quietly and wont move out again.
Place the label inside the applicator, and position by eye to make sure you will tag the label and not miss it when closing. Once you push it all together and close the applicator, you should hear a click, and hey presto, your garment has a label on.
I thought this was a great idea, especially for us busy people who struggle to fit everything in. An applicator set with 25 tags will cost you £17.99, and additional tags can be purchased for £9.50 for 25 discs. Personalization of the tags are only available for up to 22 character, so if you have double barreled names or long first names, then you may need to think about how you want them to appear.
For me, this has meant I can get 6yo’s uniform securely named in a fraction of time, and time to me is worth every penny that this set would cost compared to me hand writing the names in.
Once it comes time to change uniform etc then the tags can be removed and the discs can re used for other clothes. You would need to purchase additional backs to be able to do this though.
